Day 2. . .Oh Canada!!

April 13, 2010

Well after waking up to a snow covered tent we were also becoming aware that we may have gotten ourselves into a bit of a pickle. . . .see the camp site was located down a hill from the main road leading out of town, and of course the only way out is UP hill. So after Eric just about didn't make it up the hill I decided I was not going to attempt this (and of course I was too worried we were going to be defeated I didn't take any pictures of this snowy slope). Eric found a spot to unhook his trailer and came back to pull my trailer up the hill. With snow still falling and the road conditions not looking spectacular, we stuck around town for an hour or so. After a snow plow went by headed in the direction we were wanting to go, we decided we had a chance, so we were off. The roads were wet, the wind was blowing but there was no ice and the visibility was decent.

We made it through Great Falls and kept heading north to the border. The weather was nice, just raining upon reaching Sweet Grass. We organized all our papers and pets and then got ourselves in line.

The border people were very nice. Asked us where we were headed and stamped our books and didn't even ask about our pets. But they sent us on our way quickly so we were back on the road. . .after we stopped to take a picture at the border! The wind was kind of cold with the rain but we stopped. . .quickly!

We made our way as far as Lethbridge, AB that night. . .with the wind and snow on our heels.
