High Water

Rain Rain. . .Go Away. . .

Yes we have had a large amount of rain lately.  This followed some cooler weather we had that had brought snow to some of our mountains higher up to the north of us.  With the rain and slightly warmer weather, there has been an increase in water in the rivers.  An increase that became a flash flood for some communities that are very close to us.

Not a week prior to this picture, most of this would have been sand bars.  Looking at it now, it is a high raging river, ready to take out anything in its path.

We have had high waters several times this year.  And with these high waters the river channel has changed and has caused some unfortune losses for some people.  This includes garages, house and even land!

The high waters on Friday have reached the highway that is our main road of travel for both Eric and I to work each day.  This is a picture of a no-longer existing trail road that has been washed out due to the high rushing waters.

There is a paved bike bath that runs from town almost out to our house.  It parallels the highway and in many places was flooded with more than a foot of water.

This property has taken a huge toll this last few months.  First the river took its out buildings, and now the water has reached the main building and is under at least a foot of water.  As you can see there are also full grown trees that the river has taken out laying out in the river.

Just another shot of the rushing water and just shows that mother nature show's no mercy.
